Salary
Your future Austrian employer must offer you an annual gross salary of at least €51,500 (as of 2025). This salary is legally stipulated.
Employment Contract
The Blue Card requires a binding job offer. Once you have received the card, you are tied to the employer who offered you the position.
Required Documents for the EU Blue Card Application
Depending on your country of origin, it may be required to submit multiple criminal record certificates. The criminal record certificate must have specific verification to be recognized, depending on the country where the document was issued.
Documents not issued in German or English must be translated by a court-certified translator.
Important Notes
The validity of the Blue Card is generally two years. However, the duration also depends on the validity of your passport. For example, if your passport is only valid for one more year, the Blue Card will be issued for that period as well. To ensure a maximum duration of two years, your passport should be valid for at least that long.
Additional fees may apply if further documents are required or if a Visa D is needed.
With the EU Blue Card, the path to a successful professional future in Austria is open to you. You will benefit from an attractive career perspective and can also establish yourself long-term in Austria.
